The killing of George Floyd was truly shocking.....to see someone effectively murdered on TV by a cop while pleading for his life was outrageous and you can understand the outpouring of anger in the US. I actually don’t think that would happen in this country...but who knows. On saying that the looting and rioting have no place - takes away from the cause in my mind and only makes tolerant law abiding people (like myself and many on this board) turn off in disgust. Also it must be said that the portraying of George Floyd as an angel with wings is way over the top. If you read the press he was a known criminal, into drugs and all sorts - there is some suggestion he pointed a gun at a pregnant woman’s stomach in one theft/altercation. So this guy was no angel yet the media portrayal would have you believe otherwise. Racism and violence have no place in our society and I for one stand strongly against both. But you also have to look at the facts. The number of blacks in the US police force is proportionately higher than the size of the black community in the US population. Also the number of black on black killings are higher in US than any other category....black on white, white on black, white on Asian etc. So just saying....the killing of George Floyd was an outrage.....but we need to keep a sense of perspective ....and not be driven by mob rule.....

I totally understand the protests 100% but the whole point of a protest gets diluted when shops are looted and bottles are thrown at the police. Whilst there are some bad eggs in the UK police ( like all professions ), they do a decent job, and certainly do not deserve bottles thrown at them ( some were girls )! If you look at football stadiums - it's the stewards that cause a lot of the trouble and usually in this day and age, the cops don't go in unless they have to.

I liked Obama but he was weak and now Trump is aggressive, racist, and a complete nutter so to the other extreme. You would have thought someone better than Biden ( over the hill ) could have been challenging Trump!

With Corbyn gone, at least Karmer will give Boris a good run for his money, and can see why Boris's popularity has dropped in the ratings. Not a labour supporter, but impressed with Karmer so far and unimpressed with Boris in the handling of the virus.
My daughter who is friends with someone who is quite high up in NHS administration said to me that when Boris asked "what do you need?" he was told we don't need a thing we can handle it, by the top admin idiots of the NHS.
Just to let you know my daughter is not some fluffy headed bimbo, she works for the MOD and has a rank equivalent of a Major I guarantee she is well informed, she makes it her business to be so.
With that kind of Information from supposedly top advisors Karmer would have been in the same position as Boris.

The USA got the wrong Obama.

I suspect the right one will be president five years from now.

I think that we all agree that slavery, in all its forms, is abhorrent. However, where does it end? Do we demolish the pyramids as they were built by slaves? Do we tear down statues of Roman Genarals and Caesars as their world was built on slavery. Why is a wrong committed thousands of years ago any different to those of a couple of hundred years ago. It is impossible to compare the rights and wrongs of different eras. People used to watch public hangings like we watch a football match today. It's history. Let's not forget it but learn by it.

Another point is, that in my humble opinion, it will set race relations back as all this will be 'meat and drink' to the far right. Something that we just don't need. I wish that people would put their efforts into righting the wrongs that are happening today and not delve into faults of the past.

We should deal with the modern slave trade of children being used for cheap labour, and more importantly children being used as *** slaves as they are by the trash Paki scum in Rotherham.

Quite right mate. The big issue here is the fact that certain members of the black community genuinely believe that they were the only people who were victims of the slave trade which is nonsense. Since time began, people have been used as a living commodity. It's abhorrent now but the fact is that most of the world utilised slave labour including all of the great civilisations. What about the second World War where the Germans and Russians used slave labour or the Japanese on the Burma Railway? All lives matter. It happened so get over it and move on. We can't change what happened centuries ago or in the last war. I remember talking to someone who was a captive in Burma. He said his life got better once he dropped his anger and bitterness towards Japan and he moved on a happier man. He said there is power in forgiveness. Seems a few of these protestors who have nothing to forgive as they were not around are using what happened in the 1700's to further political agendas to me.

There is scum in this world just like those you mention in Rotherham. But there is scum in you GLM for using a racial term you have there. Hang your head in shame, but then maybe not.. because you and those scum in Rotherham share something in common.. that is being scum.

Mods - if this poster above is not banned, then expect the last of this site. I’ll make my complaint to Footymad officials and even go as far as reporting this to the police for the racial slur made above. You need to do your part here if you truly have decency.

While the terminology used may be incorrect, the sentiment is not. The only reason why the police did not pursue these Asian gangs was the fear of being called racist. This cannot be acceptable in any humane society. Those young girls have been traumatised for life and the perpetrators were allowed to get away with it. That is truly appalling.
