    Scottish Football

Over the weekend I unfortunately chose to watch two Scottish Premier League games. On Saturday I watched Hibernian v Motherwell and today Livingston v Rangers. I feel that I have just wasted about four hours of my life. Both games were desperate, probably not even our Championship standard.. In the two games very little individual skill was displayed, with all four sides quite happy to lump it up field and hope.

It is no wonder that the Scottish National side struggle, if these players are under consideration. I certainly will not be looking forward to watching more of this dross.

In the seventies I was a regular visitor to Ravenscraig Steel Works which is [sorry was] on the outskirts of Motherwell. Watched "The Steelmen" many times at Fir Park and have only good memories. The ground was always almost full with plenty of atmosphere. Mind you, have no idea what the football was like, things were always a bit blurred after doing the pre game round of boozers with a few friends off the 6-2 shift at the steelworks.

Sadly with the steelworks gone the town and club are a shadow of their former selves, a story very familiar throughout Scotland I am sure. Sad!
