    Trouble in Mykonos

Being reported that the Manchester United player, Harry Maguire is helping Police with their enquires into an incident in Mykonos. It appears that a fight took place, possibly caused by British lads, Maguire has been arrested. One of the problems with being in the public eye. United have been in contact with their very expensive center half, but as yet have not made a statement.

If VAR become involved he will be found not guilty.

Now being reported that they were fighting with the Greek Police. This certainly appears to be a true story and does not appear to be going away anytime soon.

Well perhaps mine is a jaundiced view, if so apologies, BUT, if true, this just backs up my view of the "typical" English footballer is a SIMPLE thug. Sorry if that offends, but .....

It looks as if Maguire has pleaded not guilty and is being allowed home. He may have to return for court proceedings, unless his solicitor can work wonders.

The trial is underway and both parties are making cases. It doesn't look as if it will be straight forward. It appears that Maguire tried to bribe the police, which is serious in Greece. Reports suggest that a fine will be imposed rather than a prison sentence.

Now being reported that he has been found guilty on all three charges and has been sentenced to 21 months and ten days in the nick, suspended.. How can Southgate play him in the England team now?

Wish I could be more sympathetic, but as my old mate, Bill, used to say...you can't put brains in statues. Surely, if you are in a foreign country and decide that it's o.k. to assault a police officer (then offer a bribe to compensate for your stupidity) you deserve all you get...silly boy !!! Now, as a result of his actions, he might very well be excluded from national selection and thereby restrict his country from being able to compete at it's best. If, on the other hand, Maguire, decides to launch an appeal against the conviction, his appearance in an England shirt might not be deemed insensitive or a complete embarrassment. Time will tell.

Southgate has seen sense and withdrawn Maguire from the squad. Still no place for Coady.
