    O/T. Merry Xmas you scumbags

Got a phone call this morning at 5am.
Actually thought it was my alarm so turned it off. 20 second later it rings again. It's my neighbor. "Just had a scuffle with 2 blokes emptying you garage".
Wtf. Jumps up, hurdles the dog to get downstairs and neighbors just walking down my drive. 2 doors on the van wide open and garage door open.. he had a few cuts and a swollen hand but he gave as much as he got. (Used a steel wrench) he recons one of the blokes was squeeling like a pig...

I have 5ft steel gates which are padlocked. A remote control garage door and a deadlocked van with alarm.

They parked the black hatchback car between mine and the neighbors house. He didn't recognise the car model but saw SH 11 as the first bit of the reg. (Prob stolen) they Cut off the padlock. Scanned the garage door to open it and used a pri bar to pop the locks on the van..

Phoned the police and before I had finished talking to the lady on the phone a cop van arrived outside. Tbh there's very little they could do as the blokes wore gloves and had hoodies and face coverings..
He gave me a crime number for insurance and mentioned a 1230am break in with sim discription driving a black vauxhall hatchback.
Luckily I only had a handful of tools in the van and very few in the garage. Most are in my workshop which they didn't get to.

They obv knew what was of value as Stihl saw and new twin drill set have gone when my old jigger pick and corded drill was along side the other bits. and they were just wheeling out the choppers/tomahawk when neighbour stopped them.
That orange Tommi I restored was thrown at the neighbour which is now bent and a bit worst for wear. Though he recons he got 6 or 7 good blows with the wrench.

I've put the word out to a few who would let me know if owt was offered to them bit I'm not holding my breath.

    Sorry to hear that Cayton.

Strange they'd be prioritising the bikes over other 'booty' unless they've been looking in on MM, know you and have seen the value/work you put in?

In my defence it was 9pm last night to me and I was watching Corrie with Mrs CA, honestly! (Oh and I'm 4,000 miles away )

Just over 2 weeks since my car vandalised outside my home, the ba**ards poured a 5 litre bucket of white emulsion all over my car, i have cctv, but they had masks on & hoodies, reported to police, all they did was ring me up next day, giving me a crime number & saying nowt they could do, plus saying with masks etc being worn, only thing the cctv was good for is the time it happened.
The damage was done at 10.15 pm, my wife went to bed at 11.30 pm & looked out of the bedroom window, to which she said there was something on my car, it took me while 4 amm next morning to get the paint off the car & inside the bonnet.
I have put the feelers out for anyone bragging about doing cars, there is a spate at the moment in Swinton of chucking paint on cars & slashing tyres. It seems they picked my car because it is the only black car on the street, done 2 on next street alsowith paint.

Bloody hell Cayton, how many people would stop leaving anything in the van, after seeing the clip.

Tbh I have some tools that are worth close to a grand and it's very rare I leave valuable tools in there. I only loaded the Stihl saw in the day before as I was cutting out a window but scaffolder let me down.
My main concern is the garage. It's on a remote control which is quite old, the copper said they scan the code when you open/close the door. This would mean they needed to be close by. I'm well insured but I Think it's time for a alarm system.

If it's a Ford transit they've been doing that trick for years. Had my van broken into and had to fit specialised deadlocks, they worked a treat.
Alarm the garage up with a sensor as you approach the door. CCTV is only useful if they're not hooded up.
They walk round the estate trying all the doors.
They would have had to have been close to ' ping : the garage door like they did
