Crystal Palace v Burnley Match Preview

While Jimmy Anderson aka the Burnley Express was demolishing the Indian middle order last Tuesday at Chennai to help England to a notable Test victory later that same day a makeshift Burnley Eleven that barely seemed to know each other were making an ignominious exit at home in the FA Cup to Championship side Bournemouth. One up for Burnley at cricket, one down at football. On Saturday the Clarets travel to London to play Crystal Palace and if any excuse is to be made for that sorry Cup performance they will need to bring back at least a share of the spoils from Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace were our opponents at the Turf in November when an early Chris Wood goal gave us our first PL win of the season. If fit Wood will probably be recalled to the starting line up on Saturday and may be joined by Brownhill. Taylor is unlikely to be risked so Pieters (if eligible!!!) will fill in at left back. The Eagles will be sweating on the fitness of their talisman Zaha. Without him they do not carry a fraction of the threat they pose when he is in the team. Eze has adapted quickly to life in the Premiership and could be a danger especially in combination with Zaha. Former Claret Gary Cahill is likely to feature in central defence for Roy Hodgson’s side. Completing the double over Palace would give us all a huge boost this weekend. So without further ado COYC!

After what happened in mid week I hope that everyone at BFC realises that the watching supporters will be demanding a response.I am still angry and found myself casting an envious eye on Swansea this week and wondering how Steve Cooper would get on with the players from a first class Academy,he certainly has a track record in that area.

A "Must Not Lose" fixture, IMHO.

Every point is crucial at present, we know how tight it can be at the end of the season, especially if one of the bottom 3 do a Leicester.

There should be no excuses for anything less than 3 points tomorrow, He rested a lot of the squad for the appalling display against Bournemouth so they should be well rested and good to go, and good to go like they did in the second half against Brighton, whether Zaha is playing or not other teams have not struggled against Palarse so we should'nt.

Seven teams below Palace at the minute and we are the only team that they have not taken points off this season. They have beaten West Brom, Fulham and Sheffield United, drawn with Brighton and won and lost against Wolves and Newcastle. Usual sort of season for Palace and you never know what you are going to get ---very much like us!

It all depends on team selection and tactics.

If we set up for a nil nil score line and hope that Dychball provides a goal, then it will play into Palace's strengths.
