They are a lot heavier due to the increased weight of the batteries in the cars.
The car manufacturers advertise the range of the cars but that is in ideal driving conditions.
Last October we took a taxi to the Ship Inn for a meal. Out taxi was an full electric car. I asked the taxi driver what sort of range he got on a full charge. He told me that he was able to drive further on a full charge in the summer months than in the winter months.
The reason is that in the winter months the headlights have to be used and the heater in the car is on both of which drain the batteries in the electric car.
However the electric car manufacturers are never going to mention this as they are determined to sell their electric cars come what may!

Every manufacturer lied about range even with ICE cars ,they were based on engines in lab conditions and miles out ,the new WLTP is more accurate but it won’t be set in stone.

Even their on board computers were a tad optimistic regards mileage ,old school method was brim the tank ,empty it and I mean dry and brim it again divide miles by litres I think and that’s your true mpg….

Not just cars tho, laptops ebikes, phones etc.
Tha is eric. There was a battery making business in Dundee but I think the head office moved the bulk of the organisation elsewhere. Johnson Matthey I think was the name but I could be hovering. Is the metal you recycle something that you buy or is it something from an item that would just get dumped. Recycling cardboard started out by buying the cardboard for a small amount. Then it moved to you paying someone a small amount to collect it. Now the best I can do is deliver it to a recycling business and they are happy to take the stuff for nothing.

No 100% sure as its a diff dept but it's metals from lithium and nickel type batteries, they convert it into active cathode materials that they can then use again. So yeah its materials that would normally be dumped.

    Thank you for your post.
Just because every car manufacturer lied about the range of their cars does not make it correct. The school method of working out the miles per gallon would be the number of miles driven on a full tank of petrol divided by the number of gallons of petrol in the tank not litres.

Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc is our best hope of building a new technology business. The difficult bit is keeping it and growing it in Dundee. Capitalism just seems to prey on small start up businesses and giving the founders a £1m seems to be an all too common occurrence IMO.

Different companies BC. Vidor made radios and batteries (Dundee facility was manufacturing batteries) and Veeder Root made Tachographs.
