Many years ago, probably in the 1970s I was stood in the foyer of Sheffield Train Station and Austin Mitchell, who was a presenter on ITV Calender back then, walked into the station wearing a collar and tie, suit jacket but NO trousers.
I shouted to a mate who I was with ‘Austin Mitchell !!!’ and he turned around and looked the wrong way towards the road - then looked back at me with a puzzled look on his face.
Him - “I didn’t see it”
Me - “it? - it’s a fella off Calender, he’s just walked into the station with no trousers on”.
Him - “oh, I thought it was a car”.

Daft …… but true.
