On the basis that Lennon is here then I might agree with you army, if signing on/keeping players who are patently not good enough is acceptable then no reason why we shouldn't have kept Hendrick. But the fact that Steve Bruce has only started him once since early February in a piss poor Newcastle team tells you all you need to know about him.
And one decent game against our stiffs in a Mickey Mouse Cup match doesn't make any difference at all. He still ended up on the losing side.

I have said many times previously, somewhere deep down inside Jeff Hendrick there is a very decent footballer, Dyche couldn't find him and neither can Bruce.
I'd still have him in preference to Stephens though.

He played in 91% of the PL games for which he was available. This does not include the last nine games of the 2019/20 season when it was known that he was leaving and SD left him out along with Lennon, who it appears did want to stay but the Chairman would not authorise a contract extension.I don't think that is quite right Quicknick!
Hendrick wanted to go and good luck to him, however, I do wonder whether it was the Lennon situation which was the crux of the aggro between Sean and MIke Garlick. None of us know, I am just speculating.
Hendrick was certainly trying very hard last night but he came up against a team who were determined not to capitulate and worked hard for the draw.
