Ha, here is a conondrum. I also lived in Maubourget, Hautes Pyrenees for a couple of years. I would often go for walks along a path beginning with passing the bull ring (ugh), rugby ground and several other sports alongside a river. When it was hot for several weeks and with no rain the river would rise several feet in height. So that's counter intuitive. So can you work out why that would be. It was nothing to do with the sports clubs etc.

I believe that the bull ring was at a fairly low level of the sport and the bull survived unharmed, like our National League but very occasionally they would get a Premier League Spanish bullfighter to show all of his skills. I just went in once when it was used as a venue for the town's annual festival.

Co-incidentally there is another occasional poster on here who used to live in Tillac and then moved to Maubourguet.

Shame really as you could have had a good discussion with him, especially as his views seemed very similar to yours.

Unfortunately he tended to get a bit aggressive at times.

This was probablty because he was suffering from Dissociative identity disorder (DID), previously known as multiple personality disorder (MPD).

This is a mental disorder characterized by the maintenance of at least two distinct and relatively enduring personality states. The disorder is accompanied by memory gaps beyond what would be explained by ordinary forgetfulness.

He also used to post as Neil McDonald's Dick, The Clap, Total Idiot, Sir Les Patterson and C_U_N_T.

Maybe one of them lived in the same village in France at the same time as you?
