I think it's a bit harsh to be calling for Jones' head, personally. Most people on here were incredibly quick to attribute any success we had under Bruce to Jones' work behind the scenes. That's work none of us saw, of course, but we all knew it must be the explanation... Now it turns out he's totally useless as a coach and shouldn't have a job? Seems a bit weak to me.
Jones' record shows he isn't a good manager. But he must offer something as a coach given that we all saw that for ourselves not long ago when we were attributing various improvements to him rather than Bruce, and also the fact that he was part of the most successful England coaching setup since 1966 (like it or not). It's likely that he offers a specific skillset, and it might be that the new manager wants to keep him on for that purpose. Equally, he might not if the new fella has that same skillset himself and/or prefers someone else who can offer whatever it is Jones specialises in.
Until we get a DOF and new manager in place, I don't see the point in over-reacting to what goes on right now. It's clear that we're not good enough, but that was clear before Bruce left too. Same team on and off the pitch - what did we honestly expect to see change? If the takeover hadn't gone through so suddenly we might have someone in by now, but until we do we just have to remain patient, support the team as best we can, and then wait for improvements to come once there's someone with a plan at the helm.
I've seen a couple of his interviews, both pre and post match and I just think 'Billy Bull5h1t'
I know you all think the England team is great at the moment but for all of us abroad it's a good defensive performance with a fantastik counter attack but not great football to watch. Newcastle play the same way but got a one man counter attack and no defense at the moment. I think Graeme Jones fit well with the England setup but it's not what we all hope for when we watch a Newcastle game.
You may well be right. I don't "hate" him. But sorry mate, I'd sack him the day a new gaffer joins because I don't see what he contributes to an onward journey.
My thinking is:
* If a new fella comes in, bring his entire backroom staff. I don't want to hear him crying that he was hamstrung by any of the old staff.
* If we go down under someone new, so be it. All that were here couldn't have positioned for relegation any better.
* Apart from a handful of decent players, I'd have the majority of the squad out to, when FFP allows.
Reading today he is now going to be in charge for Brighton as well more of his naff starting line up and tactics and another 3 pts out the window
