Thanks for that link - great to read about those games which occurred some 7 years before I became a Notts fan at the age of 7. However the comment that there were only 12,000 at Meadow Lane for the replay seems a bit harsh. I bet Notts would love that level of support today.

That was a fantastic little read and some really nice photo's as well. It was just a few years before I was born but looking at the kits and ball etc still reminds me what it was like playing football as a kid in the early 70's. Thanks for sharing.

Arsenal 79, they beat Wednesday after three or even four replays. They arranged the replays and played them within 48 hours.

We played well at Highbury, but lost 20. Willie Young launched Archie Mann into the stratosphere, but no pen given. Jimmy Hill on MoD begged to differ with that decision

Young managed a pub in Bramcote after leaving the Fword. He just grinned when I asked him once about that “tackle”

Last time we played Sheff Wed in the cup they were in the 1st tier and we were in the 2nd, we best them in a replay. Look at the attendances.....

The last meeting with Plymouth in the FA Cup was very odd because it went to extra time despite NOT being a replay. Seems the FA were experimenting with that arrangement at the time, possibly as a result of fixture pile ups after the terrible winter of 1947.
