Doctor Who, Chibnall ending in style

Chris Chibnall has been heavily criticosed by Doctor Who fanatics and quite rightly so.
Nevertheless the first two of the final 6 Chris Chibnall episodes have been done very well, almost on a cinematic scale. The first episode was all about set-up with lots of different locations and story elements. It is clear that the 6 episodes will have one story running through them but each episode will, in a sense, be a single story. Episode two had 3 strands, the Doctor in the Crimean War era versus the Sontarans, Dan in the current era Liverpool with Karvanista against the Sontarans, and Yas on the planet Time encountering Swarm and partner.

This second episode began weakly, at the end of episode one the three were in peril in the injured TARDIS in deep space with the door open and a destructive yellow force entering. Then this episode started with them being on Earth near to the TARDIS and each soon vanishing to the destinations described above.

The Liverpool docks were genuinely shown, with well done CGI space ships added to the tops of the towers. The eventual destruction of these space ships caused by Karvanista piloting one was well modelled. The Crimean War (versus the Sontarans) brief battle scene was well done. We know that there were not thousands of extras employed, so well done the technical team. Overall the lack of glamour of the context was well done, muddy, desolate etc. The concept of a hospital / hotel that thus far had never been attacked was bizarre but this is science fiction. Battles were clearly set pieces, the start to be at a mutually agreed time! Where Yaz was it was easy to do in a studio although the yellow inverted flying pyramids ("Can you repair?") were well done.

This was not a flawless episode, in particular the resolution of the episode one cliffhanger and the crude splitting up of the three, going to different times / places. But overall I was impressed with both of the two episodes. We have the Sontarans, Swarm & sidekick, Karvanista, The Division and The Flux, some of which we do not yet know much about, if anything. Chibnall seems to be going out on a high.

I want to see Dr Who come into modern times. I want a doctor with multi faceted x exual apparatus, who finds inter alien coupling preferable.

I want him to couple on camera with several aliens, humans, beasts, and spirits, of all genders and colour.. All at once, as i used to. I once made love to 4 gals, in the same room, and none knew of the existence of the others. I want him to praise communism, and repel democracy. I want him on a bike wearing dungarees.

He must punish anyone linked to slavery, or unfair wars.

His yellow destructive force must not be destructive, but be able to give birth to hundreds of babies. If its white, turmeric will cure it.

Above all no one will be hurt in any episode, and every episode will end with everyone in bed with everyone else. Dr Who, will look at act like the germ Corbyn.

Flying pyramids are ok, as long as they dont hit anyone. The Division and the Flux, should be ex Barrow players, hell bent on throwing bombs that explode into flowers.

    Eric of Wisbech.
