    Santa Is A 'Well Fan

Motherwell ran out with a comfortable 2-0 win over a poor St Johnstone team on a chilly winter afternoon at Fir Park. LINK

Strangely enough, we were on the Cuban cigars around 70 mins in.

St Johnstone huffed and puffed until the second goal then gave up, given their scoring record they clearly felt they were never getting two.

Ironically there was nothing between the teams in the first half but Cornelius found the net when Bryson just missed from the same place at the other end - and that was that. Though they had the only other chance when whoever lashed over on the volley from the back post.

The difference Solholm makes in the middle of our defence is huge and the rest being solid, though unspectacular, was enough.

We're more than safe from relegation so only question is how much we can achieve this season.

From the highlights, it seemed that a moderate team beat a moderately poor one, mainly by scoring at the right times. Still, 3 pts and a clean sheet are not to be sneezed at. Let's hope that the team build its confidence and goes on a wee run. Great to see yet another local boy break through - the conveyor belt is still there?

No sneezing allowed! Don’t know what it might be!!

But your points are valid. We scored at good times and they were toothless up front. Good to see another young player starting to emerge in Cornelius, and it was very pleasing to see Donnelly back. I thought he looked calm and assured in everything he did. Let’s hope he stays clear of injury.

Solholm brought a calmness to our defending and his tackling was first class. Just hope he can stay clear of injury and suspension.
Three points on Boxing Day, and the pressure will be on those below the top six

Solholm is a class act - what's the script with the other big Scandanavian's injury. Anytime I've seen him play he wins 90% of his battles.
