We need to be green in order to save the planet. Well, that is something of a misnoma. If we did not go green the planet would be in no danger, it would merely not be suitable for nearly all life for a while. So, we must be more green.

Though in going green are we being governed cynically? It seems that it is crucial that in 2030 all new vehicles up to the size / power of a Transit van must be electric. So the average person using a new car and the companies using new vans are compelled to go electric by law. This is because the using of fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel is very wicked and will no doubt render the planet uninhabitable to nearly all life for a while, a reset in evolution.

So how is it that all other types of usage of petrol / diesel in motors of all sorts is perfectly ok? The manufacturers are under no stress to cease production of petrol / diesel motors and design electric equivalents. Think of the type of petrol / diesel vehicles that will continue to be made and improved for a period of time that is unlimited. Buses, lorries, trains, ships, aeroplanes, generators of electricity for building sites and various types of civil engineering projects, a myriad of diesel / petrol motors will be used for an as yet unlimited time.

Thus Joe Public is going to be prevented from using the cheapest fuel, diesel, and becomes a victim of the various rip-offs that always occur at the outset and continuation of a fundamentally new technology which has numerous weaknesses in comparison to the well developed current technology. Petrol and diesel engineering technology will continue to be improved but you and me cannot use it unless we do so by buying a lorry, ship, aeroplane etc. I believe that of course there is a need to go green but that the makers of all motors should have been given a date to cease making diesel / petrol motors so that the playing field would be level. The users of personal vehicles are being attacked by this partial implementation of a green policy. There is no doubt that at the moment the price of an electric vehicle is an absolute rip off and we have yet to see the forecast of cheaper prices come true. Tesla is currently testing its prototype electric lorries, which is very shrewd.

This green policy may well be correct. But it is being implemented in a fundamentally wicked and partial manner, which is thoroughly shameful. It would result in a much fairer all round economic and greener situation if all diesel / petrol motors were banned on the same date, possibly several years after 2030. Let it be a fair date for all makers of all motors / engines etc. How can anyone with any sense believe that the engines of petrol / diesel cars and vans are ruining the environment but all other petrol / diesel engines are not doing so?
