We are not bothered about the FA Cup, even more than normal this season.
The Terriers are up for this, it's knock-out time for Burnley - again!
After a disappointing trip over the Pennines last Sunday when an error strewn display from the Clarets gifted Leeds a 3-1 victory, Burnley will welcome visitors from Yorkshire Huddersfield Town to Turf Moor on Saturday in the third round of the FA Cup. The last FA Cup meeting between these teams was in January 1972 also in the 3rd Round at Turf Moor when the Terriers triumphed 1-0. Huddersfield would go on to reach the FA Cup Quarter Finals that season but finished bottom of the First Division and were relegated.
Huddersfield drew 0-0 at Elwood Park on 2 January to remain unbeaten in their last 6 Championship games and are in the play off places just six points behind second placed Blackburn Rovers. Head coach Carlos Corberan who previously worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United will bring his team to Turf Moor confident that they can progress to the next round. Leading scorer Danny Ward, Naby Sarr, Rolando Aarons, Alex Vallejo and Jonathan Hogg are all doubtful with injury or illness for this Cup tie. Jordan Rhodes who made 159 appearances for Blackburn Rovers between 2012-2016 scoring 83 goals in his time at Ewood may well start against the Clarets if Ward has not recovered.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche has tested positive for Covid and is self-isolating so Ian Woan will take charge of the Clarets. Pope and Brownhill are also probable Covid absentees while Barnes and Roberts are sidelined. Bardsley, Collins, Rodriguez and Stephens are likely to replace Lowton, Tarkowski, Westwood and Lennon in the starting line up.
The last meeting between Huddersfield and Burnley was at the John Smith’s Stadium on 2 January 2019 when goals from Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes saw Burnley come from behind to win 2-1. This also proved to be the last Premier League game in which a Burnley player was given a red card with Robbie Brady being dismissed by referee Mike Dean. The referee for this Cup match is Andre Marriner with David Coote on VAR. Heavy rain is forecast with a moderate breeze for the 12:30 kick off. COYC!

Woman getting the excuses ready. “Bare bones” - Pope and Brownhill have Covid (good job they were vaccinated). Barnes and Roberts are injured. Cornet is away. Hardly “bare bones” unless the rest of the squad are not good enough to take on the mighty Terriers!
Really Hope we get tw@tted in this, then we can concentrate on relegation.

What's all this defeatist conflict I am reading ?

"We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas''.
