    On a positive note

i fully expect to see a flurry of signings this week after yesterday's shambles.

The fact the chairman was their to witness it too could well have given the PIF realisation at the urgency of the matter and to stop haggling over a few quid. The performance against Man Utd may have given them a bit of hope that things are not that bad, but yesterday will have given them a wakeup call.

A striker through the door immediately , not a flash big name one, a low fee, contract nearly up type to fill the glaring hole up front while we get a top striker deal done.
The middle eastern lad from Russia would do for now, goal ratio better than 1 in 2 for Zenit.
or the Blackburn lad or a quick loan move for Jovic at Real

    also
2 defenders this week, 2 midfielders this week.

even Ashley got involved and made moves happen overnight in January when he saw we were going down back in the days when he wanted his cash cow.

Mbiwa, Sissoko, Gouffran and Haidaira in one swoop

I think the same, I've got a feeling we'll see at least two new faces over the line this week.
The way things are panning out this season though I have a feeling even signings won't help us. This league can be unforgiving and while our current squad are literally sat back watching there places taken by new signings are tools going to be downed by others who basically know if we stay up there the here is up.
I'd like to think they'd want to prove a point and fight for a future here but let's be real the majority will know they have no future if we stay up.

aye it doesn't look good for us Jacko. We have Watford as a must win game at the week end, and they still have a game in hand over us, and Burnley still having 2 games in hand.

Leeds are 5th bottom but have increased their lead to 8 points.

Beating Watford will get us out of the bottom 3 and closer to dragging Leeds and Everton back into the mix.

They both play West Ham and Leicester next so not expecting them to get wins.

Beating Watford, Leeds losing and Everton losing will mean only 9 points between 6 clubs

    Half empty or half full?

The way I see it is that we are very much blinkered by how bad our own form has been and how bad our squad is. However, taking a step back and looking at those around us. They are not performing any better. Not quite as bad as us but we are still in touching distance, plus we have played pretty much all of the top teams now where as those around us are yet to face Munich, Citeh, Chelski & the bin dippers.

The advantage we have over them is the buying power now at our disposal. It will be important to recruit the right people long and short term.

Some 6 month loans, Diego Costa on a free (as an example), some permanent signing quality mid 20s players are all required.

However it's gonna be exciting that's for sure!
