    National League Top Scorer Race

It appears that Chesterfield's Tshimanga is out for the rest of the season with a fractured leg and dislocated ankle.

This means that what looked like a one horse race has opened up again. And Woots is in with a chance of he can get another dozen goals before the end of the season.

That sounds similar to the injury that Eddie suffered. Poor bloke.

That will have a huge effect on the rest of their season.

Yeah. It's a shame for the player most of all. He's definitely proved he's capable of stepping up a few levels. Will be a while longer before he gets that chance now.

What with this and James Rowe leaving under a cloud, if Chesterfield do get promoted this season they'll have had to work hard to earn it.

The BBC National League top scorer stats makes very interesting reading, none of those in the list have managed a single assist so far, but all of them have scored with every shot they've had!

Can't see any betting yet, but Paddy Madden looks the most likely favourite.

Ouch! Bad injury and he's been ripping up the league too. Never wish injuries on any player so hope he recovers well.

Interesting to see that Thismanga is the only Chesterfield player on that list, which will put a lot of pressure on Asante to recapture his form from last season (before his own serious injury).

We're one of only two teams to have three players in the top goalscorers list. The surprise for me is that the other team is Woking.

I've been tracking National League goal scorers all season. My list includes every goal a National League player has scored in league, FA Cup and Trophy, every penalty scored (not including shoot outs) and every own goal scored.

As with all my tables there is a search function so for example if you search "notts" it will show every Notts goal for the season so far. You can also sort individual columns from high-low or A-Z etc . . .

Talking of own goals Stockport County and Dag & Red have the most with 3 each. Callum Reynolds at Dag & Red has 2 of their 3 own goals. No own goal from Notts yet this season.

You can discount the assists column and the last 3 columns. Ruben has definitely assisted and has definitely had more than 9 shots. He'd probably had that many in his first 2 games. Same for Cal.

What? Misinformation from the BBC? Surely not. Their coverage of the National League is a constant source of amusement to me, especially the formation they say we play. According to their line-up graphic we've played 4-4-2 all season with either Matty Palmer or Cal Roberts regularly playing in the centre of defence!
