    Why not just say Rotherham?

“What they’ll find when they get into the Championship, that isn’t good enough. You can’t compete in the Championship being direct, or being based on set plays. You have to have more”
    - Ian Evatt
On possession vs direct football in the English pyramid. Agree or disagree?

Evatt is spot on, look at Rotherham, stubborn & boring to watch, a 12k stadium can only attract average 7k fans, Rotherham population is 320k

The last point regarding the support is a valid one but I think someone has had some sour fruit.

When will fans eventually realise "we have a bigger ground and more fans than you" doesn't get you out of the division

If you have got quality Championship players then yes possession football we can’t compete so we mix it up, plus I don’t give a feck what Bolton think.

Always thought when NYS was opened should have been a 16,000 capacity. More seating on East stand & away end. In championship can make more money from away fans then more money to improve the playing squad. Give us a better chance of staying in the championship.

not sure how he got population of 320K
    Rotherham Town is ~120k
    Rotherham Borough (including town) ~265K

Eitherway, attendance of ~8K home fans is poor

    For comparison
    Bolton populaton ~285K
    Blackburn population ~120K

So if the likes of Bolton and Wendy get a lot more fans than us and therefore more spending power and ability to attract better players then why are they in Div One?
Why aren't they at the top of div one?
Bolton are way outside the playoffs, have played more games and are very inconsistent

Agree, I think the reason to have 12K starting point was taken as a save number influenced by our attendances at Millmoor (though that had a capacity of <12K, so not sure how that would help), plus at the time we were in L2. How quick or easy is it to expand to 16K or 20K, and what criteria do we need to meet before it would be done?

What they'll find when they're in the cship - err we've already been there Ian, many times in recent years. We don't need your advice

He's right in what he says and I think if Bolton were plonked in the cship right now they'd probably do better than us. Not sure if they'd stay up though as they are very fragile
This is the team that got smashed by non league Stockport and he didn't know what to do about it at the time

But it's what he doesn't say that's the problem because Evatt hasn't considered how he's going to get out of div one which, as he points out, is vastly different to staying in the cship

He's going to spend 5 yrs in div one and end up getting the push .

Long ball....tut tut. Doesn't understand the game if he's saying that about us
