For many years now the choice of government has been the lesser of two evils.
Same with Thatcher at the time
A bit supervised with some of the replies to be fair, each to their own but before Thatcher:
There were strikes every week
You all were able to buy your Council houses (after)
Candles most nights power cuts
You had to burn your furniture to keep warm - more strikes
You never went abroad on holiday you went to Ingoldmells in a caravan for a week
The jobs were dangerous with very little health and safety - pit and steelworks
This is why it’s being considered.

Before Clement Atlee we had no National Health Service or National Insurance benefits and a host of other safety nets that stopped people falling into the abyss of poverty.
I would argue there is as much, if not more, justification for having a Clement Atlee Day if we’re going in that direction.
(Probably more appropriate to have an Aneurin Bevan Day but we’re talking PMs here…)
