I told my friend , a bit younger than me. That at fair grounds we used to shoot .22 rifles.

Yeah, i remember them. 5 shot repeaters (Winchester rifles). We used the little brass empty shell casing between our fingers and blew into it, made a great whistle.....happy days.
Just looked and think it was Winchester .22 Model 62 pump action rifle.

I too recall having a gun loaded with small bullets not pellets and for that reason would say it was indeed a rifle.
Later years saw us put our own pellets into a . 22 pellet gun although it carried the stock of a rifle.
