    Mitrovic

40 bloody goals in the Championship! Some achievement that even though the standard is way below the Prem. I think the record was 32 or something before he broke it. Will be a while if ever before someone breaks it again

    Fantastic achievement.

Shame it never worked out for him here. Rafa should have played him more, let's be honest.

Ivan Toney due to injury has scored 12 goals in 28 games

Mitrovic won’t make double figures next season.

He has had an excellent season but the Chimpo is his level the same as Gayle when he was on loan at West Brom

I don't think he'll do well next season either.

Got a bet on with another Toon fan that he won't get more than 15.

I just don't think he'll cope in the prem either, he won't get the time and space he's got use to and then he'll lose his head and pick up cards.

I saw a clip of him pushing an opposing player over the other night. VAR will have his life next season.

Not that I want it to, tbh. Always liked Mitro...just don't think that he's up to it in this league, Prem defenders will have his life.

John Anderson saying that many calling for us to resign him (and Ivan Toney). Of the two, I’d prefer Toney but both would be a step back and
    not good enough.

Ivan Toney is not a step back from Wood. Don't understand that statement. But I agree that he is not good enough to match what our ambitions should now be.

If this turns out NOT to be a mega money window - and rumblings are that it won't be - Toney won't look so bad.

Don't think that's what TT meant, Trini. I think he means that not going for a top striker but getting someone who is possibly no better than what we've got isn't a step forward.

I kind of agree, tbf. Wilson can't start next season as our number 1 striker and, whilst Toney would be a great replacement for Wood, in terms of a spine for the team, I'm hoping for a 'Bruno-level' forward to come in.

Having said all that, our owners and Howe know what they're doing so whichever route they choose to go down will, I'm sure, take us forward.

I wouldn't be unhappy with Toney at all. He's performed well at Brentford with players that are, hopefully, not as good the ones we have, or will have after the summer. With good service, he can become a very prolific striker in the PL.

Having said that, there are other rumours about centre forwards that I am more excited about, eg. the Benfica lad.
