He can score goals.- Good. But what type of midfielder is he? We need a complete refit in that department
Wow - this is early (on O/S):
Crewe Alexandra are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Conor Thomas.
The athletic 28-year-old, who has left Cheltenham Town, has signed a two-year deal at Mornflake Stadium.
The right-footer, who stands over six-feet tall, has experience of winning promotion from League Two after playing 43 games and scoring five goals to help the Robins go up automatically in 2020-21.
Conor, a former Coventry City and Swindon Town man who has also played in the Indian Super League for ATK, made 30 appearances for League One outfit Cheltenham last term.
He started out with hometown club Coventry and made his debut at the age of just 16 in 2011.
Conor went onto make more than 100 appearances for the Sky Blues and also had a loan spell at Liverpool, with a view to a permanent move, but injury ended the proposed switch.
The former England U17 and U18 international signed for Swindon in 2016, making 40 outings, before 12-month spell in India began the following summer.
Conor arrived at Cheltenham in 2018. He helped the club reach the Play-Off Semi-Finals in his second campaign before playing a key role in promotion in his third.
In all, he made 146 appearances and bagged 20 goals for the club in four seasons.
Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome Conor and wish him all the very best during his time at Mornflake Stadium.

Yellow card every 3 and a half games last season may tell us something.
Seems his goals come mainly from penalties (he's only missed one). He seems to be a "calm" deep-lying midfielder in front of the CB's.
A couple of rumours circulating wondered if anybody else had heard anything NO1 we are in advanced talks in bringing Kelvin Mellor back to the club NO2 we are also trying to secure the services of Connor Wickham who has 79 premier league games under his belt and is only 29 what do you think ? Would be hugely impressive if we got Connor Wickham.
Connor Wickham would be a decent signing if he manages to stay fit for any length of time.
Just confirmed on the official web site
Welcome back Kelvin, good signing, he'll bring a bit of experience to the back.
Connor Wickham would be a good signing.
Welcome back Kelvin Mellor! He should never have left when he did. He was treated badly in his final season. He had to cope with difficulties similar to another number 2 under Davis' regime.
