My first drink in a pub was in Brid at Kings Head or Arms can’t remember which.
My cuz and I bought 2 halves of Tetleys mild, we were 14, shhhh.
I took one sip and said if that’s beer you can stuff it. Emptied the glass in one and drank lager for the next 40+ years.

Yeah thats weird uncle Roma lol, because I do think that lager only started to become popular in the late 70s-early 80s onwards, maybe ?.
Its always been my so called tipple, and as much as I will also sup beer/bitter or ale or cider etc, lager is my fave pint.
Id love to get my hands on some of those blummin beer and ale and lager kegs, and wines and spirits crates, that I keep signing into and out of the frozen Jack Walton mega warehouse.

15 year old - Little George in Wombwell.
Only pub that would let us in.
Probably Barnsley Bitter or maybe it was Johns by that time.

These days - I wouldn’t wash mi car in Johns - horrible - unless there’s nowt else on offer.
But that’s because beer has come on leaps and bounds since I was a kid.
    I love blonde’s - especially Farmers Blonde.
    Also like Timothy Taylor’s.
But there’s hundreds of good beers to go at.

I haven’t seen Pat with her ‘beer bible’ for a couple of years.
Lots of advice in that book.
    Hopefully she survived covid.

If I remember right there are about 35,000 beers rated in that book.
Always bought her a drink when I saw her.

Just round the corner from the little George was the Prince of Wales which with out a doubt served a beautiful pint of Johns ,it was like wine although I loved a pint of Stones from the Fighting Cocks at Platts Common although that always left me with a thick head the next day.
