    Migrants Keep Coming and Coming

Nearly 1,000 migrants arrived in the UK yesterday after crossing the Channel, government figures show.

It’s time the armed forces should patrol our shores and tow all these dinghies back to France. Many in this country are starving and can’t afford heating bills and taxes keep rising! Is there any wonder why there’s resentment! Yes to skilled legal immigration but no to illegals.

Whilst I think the issues around immigration are actually much bigger than simply the headline grabbing stories around those coming over the channel, this particular situation is now well out of hand and totally agree that it needs urgently dealing with.

I have every sympathy for those who come over who literally risk their lives to escape persecution at home and genuinely want to work and make a better life for themselves here but there has to be a limit on the numbers we can accept. In addition, there is clearly an increase in criminal activity and people-trafficking. Couldn't find a lot to disagree with the shadow Secretary Yvette Cooper's concerns but there has to be a balance between humanitarianism and pragmatism and we need to put more pressure on the French to help try and resolve this too.

Why should the French care? They don’t want them to be a burden on their country. We are signatories to the United Nations Convention on Human Rights and while that is the case, we cannot just deport people, regardless of whether they arrived legally or illegally. Long term, it is unsustainable and as climate change renders large parts of Africa uninhabitable, there could potentially be millions of people heading North. It’s obvious that we aren’t going to fix the climate crisis anytime soon, so sooner or later, we will have to withdraw from existing migrant and refugee agreements; sounds harsh but surely inevitable. Interestingly, though, the largest number of cross channel boat people are Albanian, a significant number are probably criminals! The government needs to get a grip, and soon!

The problem with this, is the civil war between Ministers and the Civil Service (Blob). Ideology is for the elected representatives, not the un-elected employees of gov.uk.

The bottom line is 'you can't fit a pint into a half pint bottle'. This is what is happening in this country. Legislation has to be passed to stop this!

Can’t see why we can’t patrol our waters with gun ships and turn them around back to France! Poor mites are leaving in inhumane conditions in Manston but our elderly can’t afford to heat their homes or eat!! Illegals are illegal - end of!!! We want legal immigration and just like Australia there should be a system in place for skilled Labour!

I believe we are paying the French a sizeable amount of money to deter these people from crossing, so how did a thousand manage to make the crossing in one day without being challenged.

It is being said that the Government is acting outside the law by not providing alternative accommodation for these immigrants. I don't get it! These are illegal immigrants who are acting outside the law but that's OK is it?
