I am fairly confident on this although that may be a presager of doom. The players should react to the poor HG team.

Last Saturday Walsall won their FA Cup match by two goals to nil at Wycombe Wanderers. Walsall were two goals up after 62 minutes so were not grinding away at the end of the game.

Last Saturday our win over Tranmere Rovers was a match that was well alive for the whole match. On Tuesday our draw at Harrogate Town was well active throughout the entire 90 minutes.

Thus Walsall are fresher than us. We cannot play well in a run of 3 games in 8 days. I have a foreboding about this match.

Everyone did their job but no one outstanding. All 5s and 6s.

Paul Simpson gets more effort out of this team for the whole match than we can reasonably expect. It is a team willing to end the match totally shagged out. Doing this on a Saturday, then on Tuesday and again on Saturday produces honest performances in the sense that they give all that they have got but their energy is less. Today they were at a disadvantage as described in the above quote.

There are only 2 more Tuesday League Two matches scheduled for us, on 14th February and 18th April. But there are periods of 3 matches in 8 days immediately after Christmas and at Easter.
