    As long as he can do the basics required of a centre half then that will be a good start. Tackle, head, intercept and pass to a teammate. That’ll do. Doesn’t need to be Beckenbauer. Good luck to him. Hope he is a good addition.

    We already have three guys who can do three of those things, a fourth without being a leader/organiser will get us nowhere even if he can actually pass.

    Totally agree, HD, about need for leadership (see my post on 30/11 under “Rumour Mill” about Blaney). I also hope Blaney can do all FOUR of the things I list - that would be very useful, to say the least!
