He's actually on record as saying he appointed him from a short list of one. Sorry Lloyd, he was 100% responsible for the appointment of Steve Bruce.
Can I blame Wiki for the dates.

No. He was appointed CEO in Feb' 2022. The point being he's been around and about the Albion for a lot longer than that.

And if he didn't have any influence prior to that date why was he on the board and on the pay roll in the first place?

    Answers on a postcard please....

Whilst I understand the popular view on here is that he is a big fat overpaid useless two hat. Probably because he recruited Bruce, oh and the debacle on transfer day.
Bruce was a complete failure no doubt, no argument now but at the time some thought it was a sensible decision, great promotion record etc.
However, reading his interview he does make a few very good points on the club, its chairman and the finances.
He came as close as he could to openly criticising chairman Lai, maybe too close we will see. Not the done thing in China.

His comments on the very poor value for money in the transfer market and wages, Zohore, Austin, Grant and Diagana come to mind, there are many others. But in truth is goes back much longer than that.
Swift, Wallace,T- Assante, Yokuslu , Rogic all good signings , next to no money spent.

    So, we need balance here.
Problem is we have a very poor record when it comes to choosing people to run the daily business of the club both recruitment and financial since JP left.
