    Massive overhaul in the summer

Regardless of where we finish, the owners and manager will be ruthless this summer,
this summer window will be like one we have never seen before. When you look at the situation,

its quite shocking how many players will be leaving.

Out of contract in the summer

    Paul Dummett
    Matt Ritchie
    Mark Gillespie
    Loris Karius
    Ciaran Clark
    Matty Longstaf

Sold or nailed on to be sold/released

    Chris Wood

    Jeff Hendrick
    Isaac Hayden
    Karl Darlow
    Ryan Fraser
    Martin Dubravka

players that have a high chance of being moved on

    Jamaal Lascelles
    Allan Saint-Maximin
    Jamal Lewis
    Javier Manquillo

so either way, we are losing at least 7 players certainly
with another 5 who i would bank on leaving (12)

and another 4 that could be sold too . Thats a crazy window, potentially 16 players going out

Couldn’t argue with any of that. Would be tricky to replace that many in one go though,so probably be done gradually over next 2 windows. There’s certainly 10 who will be going, the last block of 4, not sure. Lewis is the enigma for me, we paid 15 million for him! Hasn’t really had a run because of injuries etc,but he could save us some money. Is he an improvement on Targett who’s not the quickest. Interesting times.

That looks more or less spot on. A lot of those players have my respect for having done a decent job for the club over the past few years; Ryan Fraser on the other hand can f*ck right off.

I hope we keep Dummett as Howe seems to rate his presence in the squad and I hope we keep the Saint although we are going to have to invest in one or two quality wingers/inside forwards if we are to evolve. All the others are good to go.

Without a quality No. 9 signing in the summer, we are not going anywhere next season as Wilson has lost it, I'm afraid.

Id keep Karius and sell Dubravka the dead wood needs moving out Longstaff Lascelles Lewis Murphy even Wilson would bring in some funds to add what we already have to spend and use it to sign 4 top top players.

There's a huge amount to be done and, unforunately, we won't do what is needed in one window.

It make sense, in a way-Howe is very big on 'the group' and he loves players like Murphy, Ritchie and Longstaff because of their character and work ethic and he'll be trying to keep the spirit of the squad together which wouldn't happen if we made the wholesale changes that are required.

Murphy is great for the spirit of the team because he'll do anything that's asked of him and will give everything for the team (Ryan Fraser take note)...I just wish he offered more than just that, but he doesn't. In terms of the others mentioned, i agree...I'd be happy enough to see them all go. Sorry, Hughie, that includes Dummett, too. Put it this way-if we bought in a player of his ability level and injury record, none of us would be happy and I think that's a good way to look at the squad as a whole, in fact.

If we were offered any of the above players for a decent price, how would you feel? I mean, I know we can't get rid of them just because they're not in the same class as Bruno/Botman and we need players like Burn and Targett who can acquit themselves well when in the team without necessarily being the best.

But, referencing a different thread, we need to be bringing in Bruno/Botman level players in order to make progress and to make the most of the players of that level that we already have.

(only disagreement with the list is that I wouldn't sell ASM).

we covered this in the thread I started 31-01-2023.

However I also included the financial information

In the summer all our new financial sponsors will be signed and the revenues streams will be much much wider.

Our spending will be greatly enhanced.

Whilst we will be enjoying greater revenue streams the other side of club finances is expenditure. What shocked me was the Wage/revenue ratio.

Due to fat slug milking the club and abandoning all commercial efforts other than to provide free advertising for this tat shops our off-field income has crashed compared to our peers prior to him purchasing the club 15 yrs ago. We've been surpassed 10 fold by the likes of Spurs who we previously generated more cash than. Ridiculous to call that man a 'Shrewd business man'. Fat Fraud is more accurate!

Anyway back to the program. Shedding deadwood and freeing up wage budget works out as follows: (please correct me if I'm wrong at any point)

    Leaving the club/Contract ending:
These guy are absolutely gone maybe tomorrow (before the winter window closes if we are lucky) but definitely in the summer.

    Matt Longstaff - £7,500
    Ciaren Clark - £35,000
    Paul Dummet - £35,000
    Matt Ritchie - £45,000
    Mark Gillespie - £11,538

    Total - £134,038/week

Shelvey's contract is up in Summer but he's off to Forest in the winter window. Chris Wood will also be gone in the summer as his loan has an 'obligation to buy' so he's off the books too. Looks like Darlow will be moving to Hull and will sign for them full time in the summer too.

We will need to move on Hayden & Hendrick

Hayden should be easy as Norwich are in the playoffs and he's only on £22k a week
Hendrick some how is on £40k a week and not having the best of seasons.

    JonJo Shelvey - £70,000
    Jeff Hendrick - £40,385
    Isaac Hayden - £22,000
    Chris Wood - £80,000
    Carl Darlow - £30,000

    Total - £242,385/week

    Contactual expiration Total - £376,423/week - £16,928,304/season

So in total we can be assured that 9 players will be off the books, only Hendrick has a question mark over his head from the players that are out on loan or out of contract.

Of those who are not out of contract:

    Javier Maquillo - £35,000
    Ryan Fraser - £41,800
    Jamal Lewis - £38,462
    Jamal Lacelles - £40,000

    Total - £155,262/week

We could be moving on these guys too, however if we manage to get rid of Hendrick which I'm sure we will get him off the books + the 4 above that's a total of 15 players out in the summer of 2023. That's a lot more than a full team. A considerable amount of players to replace. However most are not actively involved in the squad and won't be missed.

This would be good house keeping and certainly clean up wage bill reducing it by a grand total of:

    Grand total - £531,685/week

Half a million quid a week. With our current wage structure of £100,000-£120,000/player/week that affords us 4 or 5 top quality 22-25 yr old players we are targeting currently.

The bigger picture of all this work to remove these players is to prove we are a viable business to the regulators, being run sensibly.

Also it's the last rotting effigy of the previous regime. To remove these players from the club will signal the true beginning of the new year.

A healthy happy club with nothing but positive, determined ambitious people all pulling in the same direction.

Ain't it just wonderful to see!

Hope there was a point in there somewhere lads... haha maybe someone can find one

Exactly mate - read that earlier and we all know he has a history of attitude problems. Away he goes, no time for that.

    Regards players leaving.

I don't think we'll see Karius leave. I don't think we'll see any of your "high chance of leaving" go. It also wouldn't surprise me if DUmmett got a 1 year extension. . . Howe clearly values have locals in the squad and he clearly values Dummetts character.

Other than that, totally agree on those going and it is mad on the numbers.

On losses - I reckon we'll see some step ups like Kuol etc.
