Does that goal tonight mean that Langstaff has lost his “all from open play “ tag? Difficult to be certain because NLTV. Missed it.
Having watched the game on the National League TV once we went 2-0 up it was as comfortable as it can be and was like a training game in keeping possession. It just shows how exceptional we are at this level. The passing and moving is simply sublime. The movement into pockets of space and when one player moves out of position someone goes in to fill that space is a joy to watch. The wing backs are so high it means we can completely dominate the opposition and keep them pegged back in their own half behind the ball. It must be completely and utterly soul destroying and demoralising playing against us trying to press and close us down.
So many good performances again. Nemane down the right, Palmer the orchestrator in midfield, Bostock had one of his best games in a Notts shirt. Vincent when he came on seems like he's on another level compared to the start of the season. Ruben and Langstaff did what was needed and score when required. The turning point in the game for me was the Mair penalty save. The clean sheet is what wins titles and that's two in a row. He might not have had much to do in the last two games but that's how it should be when you are at the top of the league. All in all everyone played their part in what was a very professional performance and a case of job done.
Whilst we have matched Wrexham for points haul over the past five games that's all we can do now keep putting in good performances and we will win games. It's still out of our hands and will be until we play Wrexham and we still have to assume we have another seven games left. But at least we are pushing them all the way. As much as it's "typical Notts" that we've not got the title wrapped up by now we were not expected to win the title this season Wrexham were and they must be so annoyed with us.
I hope it was just tiredness and not injury at the end, that had JB bending over and clutching his ankle.
A big step forward for him to be playing two full 90's in three days, and to be able to show such control in the latter game.
Goal #40 for Macca, the easiest of the lot? Some people calling it 'controversial' (including Charlie Slater) but as far as I know there's no law in the book to say the ref needs to whistle for the kick to be taken unless it is 'ceremonial', such as walking players back 10 yards first, booking a player etc. .
Very smart of JB. You can see him turn to check with the ref if a quick take is OK. The answer was clearly a yes and Macca was on the same wavelength!
