Focus on the things that matter

Well, seems like the players (or some at least) are able to out the debacle of the Crystal Palace match behind them, nice for them, huh?

Not as though you get into matches like that on a whim, so good that they are so focussed on their paid jobs that they can plan ahead, hmmm?

The result has gone so they now need to focus on the here and now and do whatever is needed to get into the right frame of mind.

Gracia seems pretty astute and adapatable so sure he and his team will have been analysing what went wrong.

Hodgson’s team talk was simple and effective. Do to them this half what they did to you in the first.

Two lessons from that - first half tactics worked - need a plan for countering teams that play that way too.

The third goal for palace was wonderful creativity.

First goal - stupid free kick to give away and Meslier slightly at fault.

Second goal - Firpo should have closed down as second man and didn’t - Ayling just left his man.

Fourth goal - we were chasing the game and a good break from them.

Fifth goal - bit of a freak deflection but Rasmus needs to step up with the rest of the back 4.

Some shocking individual errors so things to work on.

Worst 45 mins from us I have seen for a while hopey.

Need a big reaction next Monday.

That Palace result is a turning point one way or the other.

The main deference with the 2 half's one team perfected it the other not so much.

So what, what are they supposed to do? Stare at a football all day until the next game?

No doubt they trained in morning flew out and flew back next day or even if players had a day off so what!

Worst thing they could do is suddenly change everything after a bad 45 minutes and dwell massively on it, the best thing they can do is try forget it happened because the first 45 and the 90 against forest were brilliant.

Having now seen as much of the game as MOTD and the Sky highlights allow, I'd suggest that they can do more to improve their performances by getting out on the training ground and (given the falling off a cliff of the physical side of their performances), some work to shed a few pounds and get the rest in better shape than was apparent on Sunday.

You EARN days off, and there is no way on Gods earth that the places they occupied weren't booked well in advance of the Palace game, and if you or I performed like they did (and the rest), taking a few days off would be frowned upon. It wasn't just a "bad 45 minutes", it was by common consensus, the worst performance by a Leeds 1st team for decades, not a precursor to jetting off to "relax and recuperate" (they did plenty of that in the second half of the Palace game).

Paid a kings ransom to kick a pigs baller round a football pitch, the least they could have shown was a bit of humility after that disasterous performance, but preferred not to.

BTW, the 90 minutes against Forest were not brilliant, they were adequate, against one of the worst performing teams in the league. Poor defending gave Forest their goal, we were fortunate their gk had slippy hands for our first, the only really good piece of play was the Sinistera goal, with plenty of chances going begging (as usual)
