local info for your trip to Bristol this saturday

    RAIL STRIKES HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED
Please buy your tickets in advance as there will be
NO PAY ON THE DAY and this will NOT be changed
There is no hard copy match day programmes any more,
on line version available free of charge on the web site.
    generally availble by the Thursday.
A hard copy can be purchased at a cost of five pounds, just ask for further info.

    Coming by road.
Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol
    YOU WILL GET LOST
If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport
It looks the long way round but its quicker.
Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 13:00am please don't block drive ways or park on corners.
If you are coming by train there is a local train service to PARSON STREET from Bristol Temple Meads
which leave at 25 minutes and 55 minutes past the hour.
Good train times as most trains from the London direction as well the North arrive at quarter to the hour or quarter past the hour
it takes you two thirds of the way to the ground and walk the rest of the way return
Using PARSON STREET will save you having to negotiate the TICKET GATES at Bristol Temple meads as there are no ticket gates at Parson Street

You will pass Sainsburys on the left with restaurant,Robins pub again on your left hand side
When you approach the ground I suggest you walk past wickes using the pavement
as the concourse area behind the big new stand gets very congested with bodies

Please make sure you get your train ticket showing PARSON STREET
We are trying to promote PARSON STREET for football fans till Ashton gate halt comes on line.
Split train tickets are available to Bristol from the London area using didcot parkway a your split ticket option
Group save tickets are available(one third off) on GWR trains but not cross country trains
If there are at least three of you arriving by train get a taxi
Make sure the taxi driver drops you in the Ashton Road end as it a very long walk round from the other end
or use the brown buses from the bottom of the incline of the station.

Why not stay for he weekend in Bristol?

Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish
The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston)
Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses"
Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's
Pubs possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage.

BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 and DAB and 95:5
and the match commentary will be on BBC radio Bristol 94:9fm

Please circulate to any other football forums and footy fans you may deem fit
If you need any further info, don't be afraid to ask

The EPL is $hit mate, you get thrashed twice by City, VAR is $hit, the away prices almost unaffordable, referees are bobbins, you have to listen to the knob jockeys discussing your immediate demise on MOTD, you suffer the bias of the FA/EPL alliance because your team is not owned by some corrupt Arab regime.

You are better off in the Championship mate, we will in all probability be back to play you again the season after next.

Normally Alfie, with stuff like that, they let you go up for free and charge you a tenner to get you down.

Perfectly understandable, who wouldn't want all those big clubs and footballing superstars playing on their own ground every other week, every fan in the lower divisions must wish for it, as we used to before we won the play-offs in 2009. Since then we've become sort of accustomed to it, and as BT says, once the novelty wears off it's not all it's cracked up to be.

You have to dream though, best of luck, I hope you find out for yourself soon enough, my advice would be though, enjoy the promotion from the Championship, that's the best part of it, I wish we could replay this season on a loop, bollox to the PL.
