What a surprise to see tall, physically strong, fast, aggressive, hungry young players making a Sunderland side that played us off the pitch look so poor!

I’d like to bet that if offered the chance EVERY one of those players would’ve chosen to play for West Brom ahead of Luton.

Why the hell can we not get our structure right, progress our youngsters, find the talent lower down and pinch lesser clubs young talent?

The recruitment of our recruitment team has been absolute gash since Ashworth departed and in all truth, Ashworth had virtually no success with our own homegrown kids.

Have to agree! When I see sides like Luton, with far less pulling power than us, recruit players with enthusiasm, energy and confidence, it makes you wonder what our recruitment department are paid to do. Compared to the way that Luton and others play we look pedestrian at best. I feel that it’s a lazy philosophy by going for the supposedly safe option with the tried and tested. We need to show more foresight and imagination and build for the future and not the here and now.

Totally agree. Even in the sixties and seventies our scouting system was one of the best in the country. Think of the club legends and how much they cost, then think of our record signings.
For me the trouble is with the head coach, director of football nonsense. Let football people run the footballing side and directors handle the administrative side of it.
Simple isn't it, a bit like the game itself that has been ruined by managers who think they are Napoleon.

Time we did recruit those type of players. Look at the likes of Brentford now. If you get it right with recruitment you lessen the payroll and have a TEAM instead of the swaggering Challobah types who don’t necessarily contribute to a team ethos.

You also are able to do the same as Brighton and Brentford, you utilise these finds in your team, sell them on at mind boggling profit levels and the re invest some of it in less risky potential.

THIS is the perfect model for a club of our size.

Owner gets richer and gets to see sparkling football whilst his asset grows in value.

are the so called foreign super stars really that much better than English/British players don’t reall y think they are….my all time favourite baggies no particular order Ronnie Allen, astle ,bomber ,barlow,Willie,Regis,ally brown the unsung hero as was ally,and my local hero Alec Jackson..the only foreign players I can think of is Gera,odemwinge,and the Great Dane.
