So Kane Wilson signs for an undisclosed fee, not connected to the sale of Knight though its said that transfer will happen, would have thought there is some give and take in the deal logically.

I agree with GP, no real rush on most, and more to the point, what contract would we offer? Cannot be at championship level as we aren't in that division, would most of those accept a contract at league 1 levels or prefer to wait until they see where Derby play next season? They cannot be forced to sign a contract now if the club is unable or unwilling to offer what they want.

I can see extending deals, some of those mentioned may have a contract extension clause, and I can see why a new contract would be ideal to protect the value, but the club cannot give contracts at above a set value as it would impact on this seasons business plan and in the event that they don't win promotion, would result in having players on the books with high wages they would have to sell. The transfer fees from any sale may not even cover the additional cost of the new contracts over a season.

So whilst there may be some negotiations, in reality, I would be surprised if there were any contract extensions at this stage.

being the cynic, I assume Brizzle had a sell on agreement with Forest Green, so rather than sell him to us for 300k and buy Knight for 2.3m, we sell them Knight for 2.0m and get Wilson for nothing, hence no fee to share with FGR. Obviously the PR then has to say that the deals are unconnected

Reading what's been said, the agreement is based on appearances which covers the compensation fee Brizzle paid FGR, so they aren't out of pocket.

Oh and Jake Rooney has signed a new 3 year contract, but I'd think he came in on a low fee as a youngster.

It’s another world! Being an even more cynical cynic...is that ‘bent’ or ‘creative’ accountancy at work, GP? Surely Forest Green would have every reason to be mightily peed off.

I'm sure FGR and for that matter HMRC will be onto such chicanery, if BC haven't done the right thing. I recall Derby got a rapped knuckle forundervaluing a transfer once, it may have been the oneinvolving Mark Lillis

Its not accountancy of any sort, its perhaps creative marketing though.

Creative accountancy would be to sell him for 300k and then to call the proceeds season ticket revenue or something else so that it didn't appear in the sell on clause calculation.

Same sort of principle that says unpalatable school meals are not the English teacher's fault
