Whoa!! I saw the thread title and knew immediately who I was going to mention. Bloody Bohemain Rhapsody and anything by Queen. Do not like ACDC. I never listen long enough to know what their songs are called. There must be more...

There’s a lot of Queen I can’t stand including the one you mention.

Your My Best Friend and Seven Seas Of Rhye are two early songs I do like of theirs.

😁 Always thought the same about Vienna myself! all over blown style over substance but then a lot of music is. Music doesn't have to be particularly meaningful to be enjoyable I guess. Sometimes quite the opposite.

As for Queen, growing up a lot of my mates were in to them but I never got them. All that changed when I saw them live at both Live Aid and Knebworth. Can't say I'm a fan of all their recorded stuff but live they were brilliant and front men like Freddie Mercury are few and far between.

Wimoweh - TheLion Sleeps Tonight especially the Tight Fit version. Can't stand blokes singing in high voices so that's Bee Gees disco stuff written off. Anything by Cliff Richard. Shadduppa Face Joe Dolce has to be in everyone's list

Your last choice kept Vienna off the number one spot and deserves some praise for that alone.

The terminology is all metaphors though isn’t it?

I took it to mean that you’d stayed together too long in a relationship and it ended up ruined and you’d never find the same original magic again.

Her vocals on that song were superb.
Donna summer apart, the lyrics are just too cheesy….even though it’s a cake.

Tend to agree with you-don't think its necessarily the songs themselves its just something in her voice that irritates me. Mind you, I felt the same about Heather Small's voice from M-People...

Have to agree with you Boingy that it is a pretty dreadful song and just because it uses metaphors still doesn't make it any better! Find the Richard Harris of Macarthur Park truly unlistenable
