I remember listening to the football on the radio one Saturday afternoon. It must have been around 1970, it was an fa cup day. The reporter covering Birmingham was raving about a 16 year old called Trevor Francis and what a player he would be. He certainly proved the reporter right.

Sad news, really good player, RIP.

Astonishing to think that Rushcliffe Rovers paid £1 million in 1979. How could they possibly afford it?
(Perhaps equivalent approx £500 million today.)

According to Clough, they paid £999,999 because he refused to pay £1 million for a player.

A fantastic footballer who also always came over as a very decent and humble man. Good co-commentator too. Very sad. RIP.

Apparently it's something like £250 million in today's money according to Kieran McGuire the football financial guy.

Wonder what the £20,000 we paid for Lawton is the equivalent of?
