We've never blocked the path of younger players who were ready to progess, If they've been good enough, like Ben Wiles, we've played them. It's just unfortunate that he's the only one to make a real impact in recent years. None of the ones released over the last few seasons have gone on to play league football to my knowledge so the decision to not play them has been proven correct, they just weren't good enough. All the best youngsters are scouted by the bigger clubs with academy status, we'll always have to take whoever is left and hope to find a gem.
Most clubs pay the fast track fee for work permits. Not very professional if we’re taking the normal route which could be many weeks (assuming this signing is actually happening!).
One way a club like ours to progress is to breed our own talent, we won't ever compete in this league on transfer fees.
However in the last few years this just hasn't happened, very few have made it through.
Wiles,Yates,Taylor and Brogan spring to mind, which is very poor really, the best period I can remember was in Ronnie's first stint,we had quite a few came through then.
They didn't block young players progress at all. What good is it having a young player in the squad who isn't good enough to contribute anything? You just want young players in the squad regardless of them being any good or not for some strange reason. We'd all love to see a team full of homegrown players, but not if they're crap. Matt Taylor isn't going to risk his job playing kids not up to Championship standard just because you have a weird fetish for it. The ironic thing is you'd be the first to write them off after watching them for 5 minutes.
Why is it so hard for you to understand that if they aren't involved, it's because they aren't good enough yet.
Don't expect any logic in his predictable, repetitive ramblings.
