    We can agree.

    Real chocolate, properly made is expensive, so Mr Hershey made American chocolate affordable.

    It's a shame he couldn't have made it still be chocolate.

    But I agree with your point that most of their standard, off the shelf cheeses are gash.

    I realise there is a "craft beer" type renaissance in American cheese making, and a bloody good thing too.

    Was it Kraft that tried to totally wipe out British cheese making during the war?
    I'm sure I heard a story along those lines.
    Damn near managed it too.

    I think the cheap American milk chocolate comes from cows that get injected with bovine growth hormone to increase milk production .

    Probably, but it was made deliberately disgusting to be cheap.
    It happens here too but not quite as disgusting as American chocolate.
    I remember one of the staff coming back from a holiday at disney with a big box of chocolates for the girls.

    Australian chocolate is as bad. When I was there I could count the number of bars of chocolate at in 2 years on one hand. Even the brands and varieties we get here were rubbish. Just gross.

    I always thought it was some sort of anti melting agent they put in it, but that could be boll*cks.
