I know like when someone is getting murdered at pool then pots a ball grannies aff.

But where does it come from, what does it originally mean?

Just a Dundee area thing or Scotland wide?

    Cropped up at golf today

Used when fly fishing too, especially if you are fishing with a fellow angler in the boat and your partner has been catching fish whilst you have been blank.

Used in lots of sports to signify a failure to score a point.

No idea where it came from but I remember older fowk (sort of RRoS age) saying 'shot like my granny' when I was younger and somebody took an air swipe or had a weak / off target shot at goal (sort of like weemin's futba).

    Can't find anything on line.

Grannies aff.......can't now get beat to zip.

But I can't really think where the origins of the phrase comes from and why it should be associated with sport......dominoes, pool, golf, fishing an the like

Seems to have its origins in early seventies but unclear on why it's called a granny.

Maybe as Deeranged hinted at as simple as playing like an auld woman but you would then be the granny not been grannied.

    Dooing my nut in though.
