    Moon landing..again.

So it’s reported India has landed a craft on the moon. Must of cost a bit. By any chance do we still send billions in aid to them every year?

India succeeds where Russia failed earlier in the week.

No surprise really. Who would risk flying in a Russian made aircraft. Only a Russian thankfully.

Like so many of my generation, I was enthralled with the Apollo 11 moon landing in 69. On reflection I guess much of the space race was linked to the Cold War as much as it was to scientific exploration but it was also a great distraction in America from increasing criticism over both its involvement in Vietnam and also the unrest over the injustices in its society brought to the fore by the Civil Rights and Feminist movements. Anyone else seeing any such parallels with India's space program?

I do, humanity makes its greatest strides forward during times of war and tension, goes back to the renaissance..
