    Amanda kopel

Part of campaign to ban heading completely in football on radio Scotland.

Is it because of the horrific circs she went through that she isn't challenged on vagueness of her arguments or is it the level of Scottish journalism.

Ban heading and football is no longer football.

And it was rather enjoyable to see Carson old school drop kick the ball up to the edge of hearts box yesterday, caused them a lot of problems.

Man mountain chested it back a couple of times to Cameron steaming forward.

Saw it on TV today, fair enough her and Ally McLeod's husbands were footballers and ended up with dementia that could have been contributed to by heading a soaked old school tub type ball back in the day - or it may not have been. Modern balls are much lighter in weight so surely are less damaging.

The most interesting stat would be the one that compares those who develop dementia after careers in football against those who never played it.

There ain't that many headers in today's game

But outlaw heading how do you defend a 40 yard crossfield pass, corners would be worthless and pretty pointless, no shots above shoulder height?

I think that she is very bitter because her husband did not receive free personal care for his condition until he was 65.
From memory she was fobbed off by Scottish Government ministers about bringing the age limit down but after Frank Kopel died there was no more talk about it.

Agree with that, well her place which will be a few people's places but em sorry theirs a lot more problems than stopping folk heading the ball.

Em assuming the days are long gone since billy McNeil got the keeper to drop kick the ball out and he headed it as far as he cud numerous times at the end of training.

Most CBS are trying to just out muscle the CF and restrict his movement rather than getting in a towering header these days.

Ally MacLeod’s daughter was on the BBC Scotland lunchtime news calling for the heading of a ball to be banned in football.
From what I remember her father was not a centre forward and probably did not header the ball as frequently as a centre forward or centre half in his team.
Sadly it is just your luck what you die from.
My father died aged 91 suffering from vascular dementia. He played football for the Harris Academy school team and for the Harris Academy FP football team but I do not blame his football career for his vascular dementia.

Was it Nicola Sturgeon or Patrick Harvie's fault then? Or both maybe?
