    Lille anyone?

The wife wants a to take a trip to Bruges in November and I'd like to take in Lille for a night or two on the way up on Eurostar.

    Any advice most welcome.

i stopped in Bruges donkeys years ago and wasted an afternoon looking for the mannekin pis, I finally found it in brussels and what a disappointment it was. bruges is nice though, all cobbles and strong beer so be careful. Lille, no idea.

    Couvent des Minimes.

An old monastery.I stayed there whilst following Wales in the Euros.Very comfortable and very interesting place close to the Centre.

A disabled guy sitting in the lounge dropped his newspaper and I picked it up.A lovely surprise meal then arrived plus a drink. No cost -
the guy owned the place amongst others so I was told.

Heineken is piss. I was disappointed in the size, 55 cm, that's the full statue, not his pisser.

Been in and through Lille several times years ago. It is (was?) an industrial town and I have no recollection of anything spectacular.

PLayed in Lille a couple of times but that was back in the 1970s and it will no doubt have changed quite a lot. I can't remember anything outstanding about the place.
