Got pictures on messenger that he's sent 70's (possibly) '80's onwards. Not sure how to attach them to this forum

If you are on a PC/laptop, when you are typing a message there's a little toolbar at the top of the box where you are typing. 3rd from the right is a Insert Image icon. Click on that and follow the instructions Choose File then Upload File to upload an image from your PC/laptop.
