    Frank Rothwell.

No...not a new signing, but the (73 year old!) chairman of Oldham Athletic who is shortly to single handedly row across the Atlantic for a second time to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Seriously good cause and, as if running OAFC isn’t hard enough, a seriously tough and brave thing to do.
All details of what he’s attempting and how to donate are available from ‘Just Giving’. All support welcome so if anyone has anything to spare...just askin’.

The brother of a friend of mine, also pushing 70, recently completed the same feat of rowing the Atlantic for charity. Astonishing, 72 days, 3000+ miles, 40 foot waves and that's on a good day. At the same age I struggle to walk half a mile.

Also pushing 70 and an ex rower. Quite happy being out and about on my racing bike 4 to 6 days a week up to 65km a go but I'd draw the line at rowing the Atlantic single handedly. Total respect for the man.

Sets off today and spending the next 50-56 days at sea raising money for a great cause.
Quite a contrast to his Turkish counterpart from yesterday’s news.
    Brave...bonkers...inspirational...good luck Frank!
