    Meadow Lane tram stop?

Network North: Government say HS2 cash could now be used to bring tram to Gedling

The bid to bring the tram to Geding borough was one of the projects listed that could now receive a slice of the HS2 money.

Plans for a tram extension were originally proposed back in 2020, with a new line planned to head from The Meadows in the city, past Meadow Lane then through the Cattle Market. It would then continue along Daleside Road, ending at the Nottingham Racecourse park and ride. It was hoped that the old mineral line used for the Gedling Colliery could be used to take the tram from Netherfield up to Gedling Country Park.

Surely a monorail would be better?

Quite right. If it has two rails, I don't want to know.

Why the hell would you want a tram from Netherfield to Gedling Country Park, or even a tram to the racecourse from the Meadows for that matter. More years of traffic chaos and overspending on budget. Money in some already rich bar stewards back pockets.

I think it was originally planned to terminate at Mapperley Plains. Quite handy for me.

Don't worry, it isn't. Just a lot of hot air to cover the arses of MPs like Gedling Tom, who failed to get a penny of Levelling Up funding and is facing next election with a majority of a couple of hundred

Hardly surprising as most passengers don't bother to buy a ticket, something that it's got in common with the trains on the Robin Hood line.
