Viktor is all the things you describe but training methods, diet, medical facilities, pitch surfaces and even the weight of the ball are light years ahead of where they were in decades past.
As an aside, when people bang on about Messi and Ronaldo being the greatest of all time I wonder how the likes of George Best and Jimmy Greaves would have fared with all the advantages of the modern era? Pretty much unplayable probably.
Defenders are much faster, fitter and skilful now than then.

Scoring goals when VVD, Sergio Ramos or Ashley Cole looking after you is much harder.

So do you think that only applies to defenders?
Tackling is virtually outlawed nowadays whereas once upon a time strikers were routinely assaulted.

I’m agreeing with you that the game is much different now than it was.

I don't get to any games now but in my time I've seen many of the goalkeepers mentioned on here and they all had their strong points (although I was never really impressed with Rod Jones) but my favourite, particularly when it came to bravery, was Alan Hill. And it wasn't just us who thought so. I was at a Forest v Everton match at the City Ground after we'd sold them Alan Hill and Barry Lyons. "You can have Barry Lyons back anytime," said a Forest fan when he discovered I was a Rotherham fan, "but if you've got any more like Alan Hill we'll have them." (In fairness to Barry Lyons whose wing play I really enjoyed at Millmoor, I think we had the best out of him before we sold him to Forest.)

I forgot to mention Bobby Mimms. Premier league winner (as much as Scott Carson)

I don’t really remember his first spell.

I think I can recall maybe 2/3 errors in his time here.

Every week there is a world class save.

Ive never enjoyed watching a player in a miller's shirt as much as I have watching him.

We've had good keepers in the 20 years I've followed us.

Hard to judge different eras and styles. He is an excellent keeper.
My favourite from the past , has to be Bobby Mimms. He was very unlucky that there as a lot of strong English goalies at the time when he was playing with Everton.

The best 3 for me, who all want onto play in the top division, are in no particular order are: Seamus McDonagh, Tom McAllister, and Bobby Mimms. All 3 played for their country at either U21 or full senior level. I think Victor is up there with all 3

There's a certain World Cup winner between the sticks at Villa who was particularly special. I realise he was loaned to us but he deserves a mention. That said, I think Victor is better!
