Eustace out and Rooney in at Brum?

So Brum have sacked Eustace, not due to results, but down to the new owners wanting a bigger "name" to front the team and it seems Derby County's own Wayne Rooney is in the frame.

Interesting, seeing as Brum's previous owners did this, sacking Rowatt in favour of big name Zola, which nearly finsihed in rlegation after they were in the play offs!

I see Garry Cook is the CEO and was connected to Kirchners failed take over bid of Derby is behind this, he is also connected to rooney's agent Paul Strteford.

My thoughts? I hope it all ends in disaster! Firstly for dropping an essential decent bloke like Eustace and secondly for being connected to that time waster Kirchner.

None of that generation of ex players have been over successful as managers, Gerard was Ok at Rangers, flopped at Villa and has now taken the middle east dollar. Lampard seemed fine at Derby, though arguably the quality of the loan players he was able to secure helped him, but flopped at Chelski. Its difficult to judge Rooney, his time at Derby was bedevilled by issues, though rumour has it Rosenior did most of the coaching and Rooney decamped when Kirchner's bid wasn't forthcoming and ended up at D C UDs, where he has achieved sod all. Birmingham will a test as to whether he can cut it as a manager, though doubtless, he will get paid big bucks and get a competent coaching team in to do the dirty work!

Carrick at Middlesboro seems to be doing OK, time will tell, but appointing someone as manager on the strength of their status as a player is a big risk and often great managers haven't necessarily been great players as Wenger, Ferguson et al would evidence.

For once we agree, though interesting that you should identify Rosenior as being responsible for us nearly completing the ‘great escape’, when it was Rooney who was (ridiculously imo) granted the ‘freedom of the City’.
Suspect the owners at Brum have made a mistake replacing Eustace with Rooney and it may prove an expensive one.
