Yes we controlled it after the subs, and improved again once replaced tillson

You'd think we weren't the better team tonight going by commentary, ok not the best performance but more than enough chances and openings, many more than they had and deserved winners

Hard fought win, must be due to lose one of these tight ones. Although we didn't play great, thought we had some good chances, they took advantage of our slip, we failed to capitalise on theirs first half which should have been 2-0. Think the goal threw us, centre halves looked a bit uncertain at times, not said that much this season, maybe the conditions, Gallagher had a few stupid moments, keeper rescued Holt. Thought we were getting stronger last 15 mins, with Mochrie key in midfield, keepers should do better with both our goals, but not our problem. Maybe not the worst time to have a break from the league now, chance to reset.

    Thoughts on tonight -

    1. Was always going to be tricky with Dunfermline winning last week and no doubt McPoke getting them wound up pre game (Claude Whitngdon hasn’t started their last few games, yet suddenly comes back in for tonight - go figure).

    2. Docherty is a massive miss. Pre season we were all concerned that it was Moult that was the main man, but actually we’ve done fine in games without him, but conversely when Docherty is missing we’ve been slightly lacking. Tonight was much the same.

    3. Watt still needs to get a bit fitter - Phuck me he looked like he had a beer belly lining up in the minute’s silence.

    4. Moult should have that game dead and buried - IMO he should have scored two of those opportunities tonight. If he does, we win that by two or three and it’s easy street.

    5. Depth is there - Academy players are actually starting to contribute. Glass and Mochrie did well when they came on and turned a game that was threatening to go against us back in our favour. Fotheringham obviously got the goal as well.

    6. Fight and dig. Two words that it’s difficult to describe and difficult to in-still yet are brazenly obvious when they are lacking. This side has it in abundance. Those imposters from last season are 100% losing that game tonight, particularly the way it went with Dunfermline getting back into it. This team on paper may not have the ‘credentials’ of last year’s squad but they more than make up for it with heart and teamwork. They would beat that lot from last season nae bother.

    7. Pressure on Raith again. Friday nights can go either way - put pressure on your rivals or give them an opportunity. Happily we’ve done the former. Again. Over to you Rovers.

    8. Finally, yet again well done JG. Another MotM but managed to dodge the curse again thankfully. Still a long way to go, but to have turned around this oil tanker of a disaster from last season in such a short space of time is testament to his hard work. Well done and keep it up.

Tillson will never be as good as Docherty, we get that. But JG's preferred set up is 4231 and that's stood us well this season ie 2 defensive mids. We're top of the league playing 4231 so if Doch is injured who are you going to play in that 2 to partner Sibbald?

Mochrie is never like for like because he's an attacking midfielder. When Watt and Tillson went off we played a 433.

I think we need to trust the manager's judgement a bit more, although imo if anyone is holding our performances back it's Watt.

Glass, like earlier in the season when Sibbs was injured. He played the role very well & pretty much laid his stake for a starting berth due to his performances in the midfield 'two'. Not a permanent position by any means, but he's shown he can be a more than capable deputy.

Was that when Tillson was suspended?
It might not be what our fans want but if Tillson is available I think JG will use him to deputise in that 2 before anyone else. And JG has us top of the league so who am I to argue.
The problem as far as I see it is that some fans are saying Mochries a better player and should be in ahead of Tillson but they play completely different positions, tonight being proof if any was needed.

Have some sympathy for Tillson. The 4-4-2 set up gives a big problem to our centre midfield. Were again playing against an overload in there. Much, much better balance when we had 3 in there after the changes.
Never felt we were going to lose. Didn't play great but was only going to be one winner tonight.
Job done. Good time for a break from league duty now

Nah, he wasnt signed by that point. It was the three games prior to him signing.

Mochrie is never a defensive mid. It's Glass or Tillson.

Think Glass went out of favour previously due to not tracking back, canny mind which manager that was.
But if he's made clear on what the role is then why not.
