Thread: Football pet peeves

  1. #41
    Love this thread.

I have been a bit down for last few days (1st Christmas without Mr Wortley) and haven't been on PC so not on the board either.

Read this and it right cheered me up.

Glad I'm not the only one to hate Don Goodman, Andy Hinchcliffe and female commentators on the men's game (goes for Cricket and Rugby as well).

As for the Left Back position....oooh how I long for a young version of Willie Bell or Terry Cooper

Thanks every one you've made an old bird happy

Women commentators, rainbow armbands, kneeling for BLM (proven to be corrupt and extremely racist), political statements from footballers who are lamestream media consumers, dancing stupid premeditated jigs after scoring, electronic billboards that somehow catch the eye more than the ball, inconsistent referees, going backwards playing possession football only for the keeper to hoof it direct to an opponent who is closer to his goal than from where the sequence began. Commentators who got someting wrong then look at the replay which shows they were wrong, but then bizarrely reinforce their wrong observstion by saying they were right. Probably more, but that'll do for now.

Lovely to see you on here Mrs. Worts, and hope you continue to do so more often in the new year. Obviously a tough Xmas this time around given your circumstances, but I'm sure everyone on here will be with you in spirit. ☺

Yay! The sensible moderator! Hello Your Wortleyness!

Hopefully your family will try to provide some Christmas cheer, but I know it won’t feel the same.

    Back to Peeveworld…

This is strange one given my declared hobby, but those signs asking for player shirts annoy me far more than they should.

Obviously, some will go to kids who will rightly treasure them, but far too many seem to end up “on the market” for my liking.

I much prefer the older shirts that were tangibly different to replicas and, in many cases, expected to last a season or more before being retired and occasionally auctioned off at official end of season club dinners.

Some of the current players wear different shirts in each half…

Millennialls on Twitter desperate for attention always posing inane questions about views on players and the team selection. Who gives a fu_ck what you or anyone else thinks, it makes absolutely no difference and is the very essence of shouting into the void.
