    Tips for a good Christmas

Seek out a relative who is having a large gathering of people you don't really know that well and 95% don't know you. Then have the Yorkshireman's Christmas--

Hear all, See all, Say nowt
Eyt all, Sup all, Pay nowt.

(Pay nowt--maybe a "wacky" pair of socks or other cheap, crap gift such as a scented candle or pot pourri--destined for back cupboard, then skip, or re-cycled as next years Christmas gifts )

    Mine is …..
Put the decorations up in the first week of December - which takes me a full day.

I send Christmas cards to close neighbours - 6 of them - no more than that.

I don’t buy any surprise presents - so I’ve nothing to wrap.
If I’m with a member of the family that sees something they like before Christmas - I buy it for them.

    Note to women.
Their Christmas is often a time of stress for them as they take it on themselves to carry a lot of the burden and responsibility of Christmas with presents to buy for family and friends, cards to send etc etc etc.
    Please don’t.
    It’s not fair on you.
Just do what you want and enjoy this wonderful time of year.

I do all the food and drinks shopping before Christmas including all the stuff for Mrs Nudgers family Christmas party the day after Boxing Day.

Then I go to as many pubs / bars / cafes as possible.

    I absolutely love Christmas.
I suppose it’s because when I was a kid my parents made Christmas magical for us.

Christmas dinner at Sandygate Sheffield this year.
Pub in Crosspool first tho (of course).

    Happy Christmas to you all.

Went round Monk Bretton with the Mrs and another couple yesterday afternoon with lift home booked for 9pm .

It was packed with everyone having a good time and we really enjoyed it .

We'd had enough by 9pm which isn't entirely how it was on Xmas eve as a younger man and had many a b@llacking for getting the worst for wear on the big day .

Merry Xmas to everyone on here and enjoy the day .

Your Grandad could well be reyt Arbs but I always thought they were the third and fourth "lines" of the full Yorkshireman's Motto---

Hear all, See all, Say nowt,
Eyt all, Sup all, Pay nowt,
An if tha ivver does Owt fo Nowt,
    Allus do it fo Thissen.

Well having sampled the tv offerings on the big day yesterday it was distinctly average , to say the least .

Which wasn't how it was when I was a kid or even a younger man .

Morecambe and Wise must be turning in their graves .

    The Mask Singer indeed !!!

    Good Grief .
