    Commentaries for football on TV

So many commentators, by that I mean all of them, are a pain to listen to. Why they need to shriek and shout through the matches, I don’t know. So, does anyone know if is possible to turn off the commentary and just have the crowd noise? The ideal, of course, is to go to the games but I fear that I will not be well enough to go to another game for quite some time. The commentators add nothing for me and the in match pundits are even worse, especially the female ones who just cannot keep their mouths shut. The TV games would be so much more enjoyable with just the crowd noise.

It does boil your brain doesn’t it. Totally agree. It’s almost like we have to be given opinions because surely we would have no idea ourselves without their input.

Generally find myself in agreement with you both on this. Oh for the days of David Coleman or Motty eh? That said, I do quite enjoy listening to Gez & AJ though on Albion / TV radio for our own games.

And you would have thought an essential requirement of anyone employed to comment to the nation would be a reasonable command of the English language. Last night I heard Dublin say "what Foden done" instead of did. Aargh! This is not only football so many TV presenters lack the ability to speak proper!

What really annoys me is when they apologise if bad language from one individual is heard but they don’t say a thing when the whole crowd chant ‘ What the f****** hell was that?’

Yes, Gez and AJ are entertaining but I can rarely get that feed to work properly; they are a bit like the banter that you hear from those around you in the ground. Yesterday, I watched Kilmarnock versus Dundee and the commentary was by two blokes fro the local radio station, just about the best commentary I have heard. Sadly, Derek McInnnes’s Killie were pegged back to a 2-2 with the last touch of the match.

I still hope someone has a clever means to mute commentators and keep crowd noise!

Often my only option for our games is to listen to the commentary on WBA radio and they actually seem quite adept at just broadcasting the crowd noise with no commentary! Whilst passable if watching on WBA TV, this is not so good if listening on WBA radio! 😀

In all seriousness, this is quite frustrating to say the least when you've paid your subscription to listen/watch. To be fair, Gez & AJ seem equally annoyed and often say that the problems are down to EFL rather than WBA. Don't know if this is true or not but might be something in it as my Dad has similar issues with his Blues TV/radio. Maybe it's the Sky influence, trying to get more people to subscribe to them?

Classic in the Norwich game "West Brom have had the lions share of possession in the last two and a half minutes"

I have just found out from a friend that having just the crowd noise is a option on Prime Video but not on Sky, TNT, ITV or the woke BBC.
